UGU JAZZ FESTIVAL
All jazz aficionados are urged to join together at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre on the 25th June 2011 for a memorable time.

What jazz lovers ordered from the Ugu Jazz Festival menu, is exactly what they will be served with as almost all of their preferred artists voted by the people, have made it to the final 2011 Ugu Jazz Festival line up list.
Since its inception, the Ugu Jazz Festival has brought in high calibre artists from different spheres of the African continent and this year is no different.
The expected scores of jazz lovers can look forward to some top quality jazz with powerful performances by Caiphus Semenya, Letta Mbuli, Ringo Madlingozi, Selaelo Sellota, Jonas Gwangwa, Siphokazi, Zamajobe, Zakes Bantwini, Malini, Nkulee Dube, Xolisa Dlamini and Pu2ma.

The local lasses include Tender Mavundla, Phumla Nxumalo, Mamayi with jazz bands The Factors, Umkhumbane Jazz Ensemble and Brian Thusi’s Band, adding an element of township flavor in the mix. DJs Mshedys and Muntu will be on the decks.
To make the new venue, the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre convenient to the crowds in attendance – temporary ABSA ATM’s will be on site for purchases at the mini-trade market and beer garden.

To draw a much bigger crowd for 2011, a week’s stay in Ugu District should be an option for people from out of the province as there will be build-up activities to the jazz festival. The Jazz Festival build-up will commence from Saturday, 18 June 2011 with activities such as the Isicathamiya Festival, a Prayer Day for the Ugu Jazz Festival which will feature Gospel Artists and a comedy show.
A 2-day artist’s conference will be held on the 23rd and 24th of June 2011 and a Pre-Party will take place on the 24th of June 2011. The Pre-Party will incorporate other genres of music such as hip hop, kwaito and house.
All jazz enthusiasts are urged to spread the word that the Ugu District will be the place to be this winter from 18 to 26 June 2011 due to the planned festivities that will warm up the area this winter!
